Cylinders play a crucial role in the vast fields of precision manufacturing and automation control. However, in some complex scenarios, standard cylinders may not meet specific performance requirements or spatial constraints, leading to a strong demand for customized cylinders.
A customized cylinder, as the name suggests, is a pneumatic component specially designed to meet the unique needs of a customer. It ensures that the cylinder delivers maximum efficiency, cost reduction, and enhanced stability for the given application.
Fokca is capable of customizing all major components of a cylinder. Additionally, we can customize various parameters such as size, materials, stroke length, working pressure, thread type, and other special requirements. Here is a real-life example:
A customer approached us with a schematic of a non-standard cylinder, inquiring whether we had this type of cylinders in stock. He needed these cylinders to replace the old cylinders that had nearly ceased to function due to harsh environmental conditions and prolonged use.
After carefully reviewing the cylinder's key dimensions and the customer’s actual needs, we arranged for a dedicated technician to communicate directly with the customer.
Subsequently, the technician recommended the SC-160x800 cylinder, which has a cylinder bore of 160mm and a stroke length of 800mm. The main dimensions and technical specifications of this cylinder were almost identical to those of the customer’s existing cylinder.
However, the customer had concerns—he noticed that the tie rod of the SC cylinder seemed incompatible with their current cylinder. He worried this might cause installation issues and prevent the cylinder from functioning correctly.
The technician reassured him, saying, "Don’t worry, we can offer a customized SC cylinder."
After further communication with the customer, the technician fully understood their needs and proceeded to customize a cylinder based on the SC model.
The cylinder's wall thickness was designed to meet the working pressure requirements, and it featured a specially designed M20x1.5 threaded piston rod to fit the customer’s existing joint. Additionally, the piston rod was extended to ensure the cylinder could be properly connected to external actuators.
Moreover, due to the harsh working environment, the material of the piston rod was replaced with 304 stainless steel, which offers excellent strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance, thus extending the overall lifespan of the cylinder.
The tie rod was also lengthened to connect to the front flange and secure the cylinder to the bracket. The cylinder’s air inlet port was customized with a G1/2” thread.
Additionally, Fokca provided the customer with a flange, an I-type joint, two connect fittings, and two magnetic switches, making the cylinder ready for immediate installation and use.
Once the customized cylinder design was complete, the next step was ensuring its quality. How does Fokca conduct cylinder inspections?
Our technicians gathered detailed information from the customer regarding the cylinder’s operational specifics and the key parameters of the br ackets. The cylinder was then modeled and subjected to motion simulation in 3D software to preliminarily confirm the design's accuracy.
Throughout the entire production process, we conducted thorough quality inspections at each stage to ensure the final product met the highest standards.
Finally, a sample cylinder was delivered to the customer for real-world testing.
