What is Miniature Air Cylinders?

Nov 28, 2024

Miniature air cylinders are small-sized pneumatic cylinders that generate linear motion by using compressed air.

These cylinders are designed to perform tasks similar to standard pneumatic cylinders, but in applications where space is limited and a compact, lightweight solution is needed.

Despite their smaller size, miniature air cylinders offer the same functionality, such as extending and retracting a piston, but in a much more compact and efficient form.

What is Miniature Threaded-Body Air Cylinders?

Designed with a threaded body for easy installation and mounting in tight spaces. These cylinders use compressed air to generate linear motion,

but they are distinguished by their compact size and the presence of threaded mounting options.

The threaded body makes these cylinders highly versatile and adaptable to various applications where both small size and secure installation are critical.

What is Subminiature Round Body Air Cylinders?

Subminiature round body air cylinders are compact, lightweight pneumatic actuators designed to provide linear motion in applications where space is extremely limited.

These cylinders are a smaller version of standard round body air cylinders and are used when a minimal footprint is required without sacrificing performance.

Despite their small size, subminiature air cylinders can deliver significant power and precision, making them ideal for applications in automation, medical devices, robotics, and more.

MA stainless steel mini cylinders

The MA Series stainless steel mini cylinders are compact, reliable pneumatic actuators designed to deliver efficient motion within limited spaces.

Constructed with high-quality stainless steel, these cylinders offer excellent corrosion resistance and durability, making them ideal for use in humid or corrosive environments.

The MA Series features various mounting options and stroke lengths to meet diverse application needs.

Its precise design ensures smooth piston rod operation without the need for additional lubrication, and it comes with standard or custom port connections.

This makes the cylinders well-suited for applications in industrial automation, food processing, pharmaceuticals, and other industries requiring dependable, long-lasting pneumatic performance.

How much can a pneumatic piston lift?

The lifting capacity of a piston inside a cylinder depends on several factors, including the size of the piston, the air pressure, and the surface area of the piston.

Piston Size:

A larger piston can generate more force because it has a larger surface area.

Air Pressure:

Higher air pressure can exert more force on the piston, allowing it to lift heavier loads.

Surface Area:

The force exerted by the piston is calculated by multiplying the air pressure by the surface area of the piston.

In simple terms, a piston inside a cylinder can lift anything from a few kilograms to several tons, depending on these factors.

For example, small pistons may only lift a few kilograms in simpler applications, while high-pressure industrial pistons can lift hundreds or even thousands of kilograms.

Main sizes of pneumatic cylinders

Pneumatic Cylinders are available in a variety of sizes to suit different application.

Their size is typically described by the bore diameter (the inner diameter of the cylinder) and the stroke length (the distance the piston moves). Here’s a general idea of the range of sizes:

Bore Diameter:

Small cylinders can have a bore diameter as small as 10 mm (0.4 inches) to around 50 mm (2 inches), commonly used in light-duty applications.

Medium cylinders range from about 50 mm (2 inches) to 100 mm (4 inches) in bore diameter, suitable for general industrial applications.

Large cylinders can have bore diameters of 100 mm (4 inches) up to 400 mm (16 inches) or more for heavy-duty tasks in industries like manufacturing, construction, or material handling.

Stroke Length:

Stroke lengths can vary greatly, typically ranging from 50 mm (2 inches) to over 2,000 mm (80 inches), depending on the needs of the application.

Larger cylinders with bigger bores and longer strokes are used for lifting heavy loads, while smaller ones are used for precise movements or lighter tasks.
