Custom Mounting Bracket for Custom Cylinders

Sometimes, to meet specific needs, simply customizing a single part is not enough. Fortunately, Fokca (Fescolo) possesses strong technical capabilities, extensive customization experience, and outstanding insights in the field of pneumatics, allowing us to design a complete set of solutions for our clients' custom products.

A few months ago, a client approached us to customize a special Mickey Mouse type cylinder tube, which featured multiple magnetic switch mounting grooves and a complex cross-sectional shape. After receiving the cylinder, the client encountered some issues during actual use.

It turned out that due to the complexity of the custom cylinder, the client found there was no TC bracket on the market that could accommodate this specific cylinder. Therefore, the client came to us, hoping we could develop a TC bracket compatible with this cylinder.

Our engineers referred to the TC brackets of our existing SI and DNC cylinder series, taking all factors into consideration, and designed a custom split-type TC bracket.

What is a TC Bracket?

A TC bracket is used to support a cylinder and ensure stable operation during its use.

Unlike mounting methods such as foot mounts or flanges, the TC bracket is not connected to the mounting holes on the end caps. Instead, it is directly fixed to the cylinder itself. Therefore, the internal shape of the TC bracket must match the cylinder barrel of the cylinder being mounted.

Through the TC bracket, the cylinder can also be connected to the base to enable swinging motion.

TC Shape Design

Based on the shape of the existing cylinder, our technicians specially designed a matching profile, dimensions, fastening block size, shape, and tie rod length to ensure that the cylinder would fit correctly into the TC bracket without collision or interference.

When designing the fastening block, our technicians made the surface that contacts the cylinder serrated. This structure avoids the issues associated with flat contact, enhancing vibration resistance, friction, and adaptability to minor gaps and mismatches in the material surface.

Next, the technicians designed specific positioning and fastening holes, using standard screws and bolts for simulated assembly.

During the design process, we considered that each cylinder and each TC bracket would have manufacturing tolerances. Therefore, the inner profile of the TC bracket used for fastening does not perfectly align with the outer profile of the cylinder but leaves a certain margin for processing. The gap is then adjusted using bolts and fastening block to ensure secure installation.

Following these design steps, we developed a matching TC bracket for every kinds of cylinders with diameters ranging from 32mm to 125mm. 

TC Manufacturing Process

Due to the complex cross-sectional shape of the cylinder and considerations for ease of installation, we adopted a split-type structure in the design. Each part is manufactured separately, making assembly easier and maintenance more convenient.

The main body of the bracket is made from cast iron, molded through casting to ensure the integrity of the product’s structure and dimensional stability. The connecting rods are made from 45# steel to provide good strength and toughness.

Finally, all sharp edges have been rounded or chamfered, and deburring has been carried out to prevent the cylinder from being scratched or damaged during installation.
