What is a pneumatic special cylinder?

A Pneumatic Stopper Cylinder is a specialized pneumatic actuator designed for industrial automation, providing precise control to stop, position, or buffer moving objects within conveyor systems or machinery. By utilizing its piston’s extend and retract actions, this type of special pneumatic cylinder ensures reliable handling of workpieces or carriers, preventing them from exceeding set positions or causing collisions.

Pneumatic Stopper Cylinders can be customized with various stopper heads, including round rods, flat rods, and rollers, along with additional features such as shock absorption, adjustable height, and locking mechanisms. These special pneumatic cylinders are widely used in logistics conveyors, sorting systems, automated assembly lines, and packaging machinery. Types of Special Pneumatic Cylinders

Multi-Position Actuators

Pneumatic multi-position actuators typically come in two configurations:

First Design: This design consists of two independent cylinders connected via a kit. 

The pistons extend in opposite directions, and based on the control and stroke distribution, it can achieve up to four different positions.

Second Design: This configuration involves two to five cylinders connected in series, each with varying stroke lengths. 

Only one visible piston rod moves in a single direction to different positions.


Multi-Stage Cylinders

Multi-stage pneumatic cylinders are ideal for applications requiring increased force over a longer stroke. 

These cylinders feature multiple stages that work together to multiply the output force. 

The force generated in the initial stages is transmitted to the following stages, making the cylinder ideal for handling heavy loads with efficiency.


High-Force Cylinders

High-force pneumatic cylinders deliver significantly increased force by stacking multiple compact cylinders. 

This setup multiplies the output force, providing powerful performance for demanding applications. 

The force is applied over the entire stroke, typically extending up to 5 millimeters from the final position. 

The first cylinder in the series is often used for position sensing, as it performs a visible stroke.


Series Cylinders

Series pneumatic cylinders are used to double the force output by connecting two cylinders in series. 

These cylinders comply with ISO 15552 standards, making them compatible with a wide range of accessories and attachments. 

They include magnetic pistons for easy position detection with proximity switches. 

The series cylinders also feature adjustable pneumatic cushioning to reduce the impact at the end of the stroke. 

They are available in multiple versions, including high-temperature variants that can withstand environments up to 120°C.
